A 4,500 lb winch is not a 4WD winch, and ZESUPER doesn't pretend otherwise. At 6.72 kg and 338 mm across, it suits a quad, a boat trailer, a car trailer or a shed door — jobs where the load is real but a full-size drum would be dead weight bolted to something small.
The relay is where cheap winches fail
Most winch failures are electrical, not mechanical. A solenoid relay that is undersized for the motor arcs every time it switches, and the contacts eventually burn and weld. ZESUPER's answer is to match the relay to the winch rather than bolt an overload protector on afterwards, which is why this unit ships with its own control box instead of a generic one. It is a dull component to read about and the first thing you would notice if it were wrong: a winch that hesitates, chatters or stops responding halfway through a pull.
Three remotes, one of them on a cord
The kit includes a corded handset and two wireless remotes, which sounds like overkill until a wireless battery goes flat on a wet Sunday. The corded unit keeps working regardless. Three-stage planetary gearing sits between the 1.2 kW permanent-magnet motor and the drum, spreading the reduction over multiple gear sets so the winch can be run slowly under load rather than in short bursts. Braking is dynamic, meaning the motor itself resists the drum unwinding — worth knowing, because that behaves differently to a mechanical drum brake when you stop mid-pull.
Key features
- 4,500 lb (2,045 kg) rated line pull: ZESUPER's figure, quoted as supplied.
- 1.2 kW permanent-magnet motor: lower current draw than a series-wound unit, which suits a small battery.
- Three-stage planetary gearbox: load shared across gear sets rather than one pair.
- Three controls supplied: one wired handset plus two wireless remotes.
- 6.72 kg all up: light enough to move between a trailer and a quad without help.

Pull safely, every time
- Check the rope, hook and fittings before each use and take damaged gear out of service rather than nursing it along.
- Drape a dampener across the rope while it is loaded.
- Bystanders belong well outside the line of pull and outside the arc the rope would travel if something released.
- Attach to rated recovery points only. A tow ball, tow bar tongue or bumper bar is not a recovery point.
- Do not use a shackle to join two straps together.
- The 4,500 lb rating describes this winch alone. Everything else in the rig has its own limit, and the lowest one governs.
Best suited to trailers, boats, quads and workshop use rather than vehicle recovery on a full-size 4WD. Match the winch to the weight you actually need to move.
