A load that shifts at highway speed is a problem you only get to solve once. This yellow strap is a cargo restraint — 310 cm of webbing with a self-retracting take-up that winds the loose tail back onto its spool instead of leaving it flogging against the side of your tray.
Where the retracting webbing earns its keep
Most of the mess in a ute tray comes from strap tails. The "automatic webbing recovery" in this product's name refers to the webbing winding itself back in after you release tension, not to vehicle recovery. At 122 in (310 cm) the strap is long enough to run over a pallet of gear, around a mower deck or across a stack of timber and still reach an anchor on the far rail. The ratchet handle tightens in short strokes, so tension comes from the mechanism rather than from hauling on the webbing by hand.
What the supplier has not published
There is no load rating anywhere in the supplier's information for this item — no lashing capacity, no minimum breaking strength, and no standard named. That gap matters, because the rating is the only number that tells you what a restraint may actually hold. Until the supplier provides one, treat this strap as unrated: work well inside what you would ask of any light restraint, and use it alongside restraints whose figures you do know rather than in place of them. Do not infer a capacity from the webbing width or from a similar-looking product.
Key features
- 310 cm of usable length: reaches across wide trailer decks and over bulky loads without needing a second strap joined on.
- Self-retracting webbing: the tail winds back onto the spool, so nothing trails on the road or tangles in the toolbox.
- Ratchet mechanism: short handle strokes let you take up slack progressively and back it off in a controlled way.
- High-visibility yellow: easy to spot against a dark load when you are doing a walk-around check.
- Cargo duty only: built and sold as a tie-down, not as vehicle recovery gear.

Using it safely
- Not recovery equipment: a cargo tie-down must never be used to snatch, tow or winch a vehicle. It is not designed to absorb or release that energy and can fail explosively if you try.
- Inspect before every use: retire webbing that is cut, frayed, abraded, chemically stained or heat-damaged, and any ratchet that will not hold its pawl.
- Rated anchor points only: attach to lashing points rated for the job on the tray, trailer or rack — never to a tow ball, a bumper bar or an unrated bracket.
- Keep people clear: a tensioned strap stores energy. Keep bystanders out of the line and its arc while you tension and while you release.
- Never join two straps with a shackle: if the strap will not reach, use a longer strap instead.
If your load needs a documented capacity, ask us to chase the lashing figure from the supplier before you order — the right rated strap beats a cheap one every time.
