Getting bogged on a beach run is rarely one problem. The tyres want dropping, the wheels want something to bite on, and then something has to do the pulling. This kit covers all three in a single 12 kg bag, instead of three separate purchases made at three different bad moments.
Tracks that finish the job before the strap starts
The pair of Gen3.0 boards measure 1060 x 310 x 60 mm and are moulded from reinforced nylon, with mounting pins and leashes so they clip to a rack or bar and get retrieved without a dig. X-BULL states a 10 tonne load capacity on flat ground; no test basis is given for that figure, so read it as the supplier's number rather than a rated limit. Used properly the boards often end the recovery on their own, which is slower than a snatch and a good deal safer, because nothing anywhere is under tension.
The pulling gear, and what its numbers mean
The strap is quoted at 8000 kg over 9 m. X-BULL does not say whether that is a breaking strength or a working load limit, and the listing title calls it a snatch strap while the pack list calls it a tow strap — two quite different pieces of equipment with different jobs. Work to the more conservative reading and confirm against the label sewn to the strap itself before using it for a snatch. The same caution applies to the two 4.75 tonne shackles and the 8 tonne snatch block: figures given, basis not stated.
The rest of the bag
A folding shovel for clearing sand from ahead of the tyres. A deflator with a 0–70 psi dial gauge and a 30 cm hose for dropping pressures at the track entrance. A shackle hitch receiver in forged aluminium, a trailer hitch lock, and a 500 x 430 mm layered PVC damper with velcro tabs. That damper is not an accessory; it is what stands between a failed strap and a windscreen. Everything travels in the supplied carry bag, 12 kg all up.
Key features
- Gen3.0 boards, 1060 x 310 x 60 mm: reinforced nylon, with mounting pins and leashes so retrieval is not another shovel job.
- 9 m strap: long enough to keep the recovery vehicle on firm ground while the bogged one is still in the soft stuff.
- Two shackles and a snatch block: lets you redirect a winch line or double it back when the pull cannot be made straight.
- Damper, 500 x 430 x 25 mm: layered reinforced PVC with wide velcro tabs, on and off the line in seconds.
- Deflator, 0–70 psi: dial gauge and 30 cm hose so all four tyres come down evenly before you hit the sand.
- One 12 kg bag: the gear stays together rather than scattered through the ute tray.

Working this kit safely
- Look over every strap, shackle and board before each trip, and throw out anything cut, burnt, cracked or permanently stretched.
- Drape the damper across the strap or winch line before the pull begins, every time, not just when it looks serious.
- Move bystanders well back from the line and out of the arc it would sweep if it parted.
- Rig to rated recovery points only. A tow ball, a tow bar tongue or a bumper bar will not do the job.
- Do not couple two straps together with a shackle. Loop them through each other with a rolled magazine or similar between the eyes instead.
- Do not spin the wheels on the boards. Wheelspin melts the lugs and turns a recovery board into scrap in seconds.
- The trailer hitch lock is a security item. It is not recovery equipment and must never be used to snatch, tow or winch.
Between the boards, the deflator and the pulling gear, this is most of a weekend's worth of trouble covered from one bag. Read the labels on the strap and shackles before the first trip so you know what you are working to.
