Getting a quad off a soft riverbank, or dragging a boat up onto a trailer, comes down to whether there is a winch on board and whether it holds what it pulls. This 12 V unit is built for that scale of work: compact, light, and quoted at a rated single line pull of 3000 lb (1360 kg).

Rope that does not store energy like steel

The drum carries 10.2 m of 5.4 mm SK75 Dyneema. Before you run a line

• Keep yourself and everyone else out of the line of pull. Lay a recovery damper or a heavy blanket over a loaded rope where you can.
• 3000 lb (1360 kg) is a rated pulling figure on a single line. It is not a lifting or hoisting rating, and nothing should ever be suspended over a person with this winch.
• Run it through the supplied control box to a battery in good condition. A winch under load draws heavily, and thin cable or a tired battery is where trouble starts.
• Inspect the rope for cuts, glazing and embedded grit before each use. Synthetic line can fail suddenly once the fibres are damaged.
• The only certification the supplier names is CE. No AS/NZS approval is stated and none should be assumed.
