Blue contrast piping traced around carbon-look PVC side panels gives the Strident its signature, but the styling is not the interesting part. Behind it sits the one genuinely different material in this size range: neoprene, five millimetres of it, doing a job no woven cloth in the family can.
Five millimetres of closed-cell rubber
Neoprene — polychloroprene, using the chemical name the supplier prints — is not fabric at all. It is a closed-cell rubber foam, so moisture sits on the surface instead of soaking through the structure, and it stays soft and pliable while shrugging off ozone, sunlight, oxidation, many chemicals and water. Thermal and moisture insulation come with that, in the supplier's words. At 5 mm the sheet is thick enough to cushion the bench on its own, which is why no separate foam layer or net lining is quoted for this range where the cloth sets in the family list one.
The supplier's own text says front. The title says rear.
Flagging this before you order rather than after. Two paragraphs of the supplier's description refer to Universal Strident Front Seat Covers, while the title, the size code and the fitment paragraph all describe a rear set in 06/08S. Everything below follows the title, so a rear bench is what this page addresses. The likeliest explanation is that the material paragraph was copied across from the front listing in the same range. If you need certainty before spending the money, ask us to confirm it against V121-STR0608S03.
Rubber that has to fold with the seat
Rear backrests hinge, and anything stretched over them has to hinge too. This set uses three separate headrest covers and a five-zip split-fold arrangement, with the supplier naming 40/60, 50/50, 60/40 and 40/20/40 splits and leaving room for side bolsters and armrest provisions. Neoprene gives more than woven cloth does, so it absorbs small differences in bench shape that would leave a rigid fabric bagging. The flip side: a stretch material that is only half seated will creep back out over a few weeks. Work the panels properly into the seat crease and pull the elastic ties home underneath before you call the job done.

- Snug polyester backing: double knitted and rated heavy duty, so the panels hold their shape.
- Elastic tie system: high strength stretch fastenings anchor the cover under the bench.
- Machine washable: listed by the supplier.

Two things to settle first
- Confirm the front-versus-rear wording with us if it matters to your order. The title and size code both say rear.
- Check how your backrest divides. A bench that does not fold in sections is a different size code altogether.
