Foam under, nylon over

The pad core is shock-resistant EVA foam wrapped in a UV-resistant ballistic nylon outer, and the two materials do separate jobs. Strapping it down

Separate straps handle separate jobs. Two 13 ft (about 4 m) tie-downs hold the pads to the roof. Two 16 ft (about 4.9 m) tie-downs go over your load and secure it to the pads, while the ropes and T-strap loops handle the bow and stern lines that stop a long board lifting at speed. Setup takes minutes and no tools, since the straps run through the cabin with the doors open.

• Restraining a load for road use is the driver's responsibility. Check the straps after the first few kilometres and again at every stop.
