Get the size right first

Most factory wheels sit inside this range, but light commercials and some aftermarket wheels run larger or smaller, and a cover outside its band either won't go on or sits loose and rotates under your palms. The inside has a rubber-coated lining that grips once fitted; if it feels stiff out of the packaging, the supplier's advice is to warm it briefly in the sun so the rubber softens. Fit it from the top down, pulling tight across both sides and tucking the edge against the rim before rotating it into place.

The outer layer is a leather-look material with an embroidered diamond-stitch pattern, backed by a microfibre plush lining. The skid- and heat-resistant surface is meant to stay grippy on a wheel that's been baking in direct sun, while the plush lining softens one that's gone cold overnight. It also covers scuffs, sun-fade and general wear on the factory wheel underneath.
