The latches are the part to look after, which is why the supplier warns against storing it part-collapsed.

A head that turns instead of you

The head pivots through 180 degrees on its ABS interface, so the pad stays flat against a panel while the angle of the pole changes. That is the difference between wiping a windscreen and smearing it. The chenille head is thick and looped, which the supplier describes as holding cleaning solution rather than pushing it around. A rubber belt secures the pad without tools, and a spare pad is included.

Looking after the pole and pads

• Rinse the pads under a tap after each wash and dry them flat.
• The supplier advises against use on surfaces hotter than 50 degrees Celsius, and states that full extension is for light wiping rather than heavy scrubbing.
• Store it fully extended or fully collapsed, and stop using it if a latch starts to slip.
