Small wedge globes are the ones nobody thinks about until a number plate light or a side marker goes dark. This ten-pack of T10 (W5W) LEDs gives amber output and enough spares to do a whole car and keep a few in the glovebox.

Amber output from five chips per globe

Each globe carries five 5050-size surface-mount LEDs, a chip format big enough to spread light around the base rather than firing it in one narrow line. The supplier rates each globe at 25 lumens and 70 mA on a 12-14 V supply — modest figures, and honest ones for a wedge globe of this size. Being LEDs, they light instantly and have no filament to shake apart on corrugations.

Before you fit these

• Check your existing globe is a T10 wedge before ordering — the base pulls straight out of its holder with no bayonet pins.
• Coloured output is restricted on forward-facing and rear lighting and the rules differ between states, so verify what applies where you drive before fitting.
• The supplier does not state CANbus compatibility, so a vehicle that monitors globe current may show a bulb-out warning.

Cheap enough to keep a couple spare in the console for the globe that always fails on the way to a rego check.
