Why the CANbus part matters

Many modern vehicles detect a failed globe by measuring how much current the circuit pulls. An LED draws so little that the car reads it as blown and lights a warning. CANbus globes carry extra circuitry to sit inside the range the vehicle expects. These are also described as having no polarity, meaning they work either way round in the holder — a small thing until you are lying under a dash working out which way the wedge goes.
