This boot is 68 mm long and tapers between two very different mouths: 56 mm at the upper end, 120 mm at the lower. The 4.7 inch figure in the title is that lower diameter, and the title does not say which end it belongs to. Measure the hole the wide end has to sit in and the bundle the narrow end has to close over, and check both before ordering. For anything those figures leave open, the supplier points you at the photographs.
Made so you do not have to take a knife to it
The usual way to run one more cable through a motor well boot is to slit the one already fitted and hope it closes up again. This part exists to avoid that. It comes with a fully open pass-through, so cables are laid in rather than threaded from one end, and the boot is drawn snug around them with a cable tie once rigging is done. Whether a tie is supplied is not written down anywhere, so have one ready on the bench.
Vinyl, and three things it resists
The one material named is rugged black vinyl, and the resistance claimed for it runs to exactly three things: ultraviolet, petrol and oil. The wording stops at resistance, and nothing on this part is called proof against anything. An open pass-through pulled closed with a tie is not a watertight joint, so read the vinyl as hard-wearing rather than sealing. Pressure, temperature and cable-diameter limits go unquoted.
Where the description says it usually goes
Five craft and vehicle types are named for it: ships, yacht trunks, RVs, motorboats and fishing boats, plus a catch-all for other transportation vehicles. The wording is that it is usually used for these, which is softer than fitting them, and no vessel, engine or hull thickness is named. You buy this against your own measurements rather than against a compatibility list.
Key features
- Open pass-through: the cable run is laid into the boot from the side rather than fed through end-on.
- Cable tie closure: once rigging is complete the boot is pulled snug around the wires and cable with a tie.
- Two mouths, two jobs: the 120 mm end faces the opening and the 56 mm end faces the bundle.
- Rugged black vinyl body: the single material this part is built from, in one colour only.
- Resists ultraviolet, petrol and oil: the three exposures the supplier puts a resistance claim against.
- No slitting needed: its selling point is that no boot already fitted has to be cut open to add a run.

Four numbers, and the questions around them
- The title sells it as an organiser for throttle, shift and steering wires and for fuel lines. The description names none of those runs. It says wiring and cables, and it goes no further.
- The title also calls it a transom boot. In the description this is a motor well cable boot and nothing else, and the word transom never appears, so what transom thickness or cut-out it suits is left unsettled.
- On fuel, what you get is a claim that the vinyl resists petrol and oil. That covers contact with the material. It is not a fuel-line pressure rating, and no such rating is quoted.
- Rubber turns up in the short blurb that goes with this listing. Vinyl is the one material the description names, so vinyl is what we publish.
- Pack size is never written down: the number of boots you receive is unstated, as is whether the cable tie this installation depends on is included.
- Pressure, temperature, a ceiling on cable diameter, a governing standard: not one of the four carries a figure or a name here.
Order this one against the two mouth diameters and the 68 mm length, since the description settles very little else with any firmness.
