The supplier quotes 340 kg of pulling strength "under ideal condition" — meaning a thick, clean, flat steel plate with the magnet sitting square against it and the pull straight up the axis. Nothing is said about whether that number is a breaking figure or a working one, or how it was measured. Real retrieval never looks like the test. Silt, rust, paint, curved surfaces and any sideways angle drop the holding force sharply, often to a small fraction of the headline. Treat 340 kg as a description of the magnet's strength, not as a load limit to plan around.

Plating built to be dunked and dragged

Before you use this magnet

• This is not recovery equipment. It carries no recovery or lifting rating and must not be used to snatch, tow or winch a vehicle, nor as a sling or an overhead lift.
• Keep fingers out of the gap. A magnet this size closes onto steel fast enough to crush a fingertip.
• Neodymium is brittle. Magnets that slam together can shatter and throw sharp fragments.
• Keep it well away from pacemakers, implanted defibrillators, hard drives, phones and cards with magnetic strips.
• Wear gloves when hauling. Wet rope and a magnet that has snagged on something solid is where hands get hurt.
