Tyres lose pressure whether or not anyone checks them, and checking is exactly what gets skipped when the valve is buried behind a spoke or facing the wrong way on an inner wheel. This six-piece set of brass extensions brings the valve out into the open, in three bends so one of them clears your particular rim.
Brass, a seal and a valve core in each one
Every extension is turned from brass and carries its own rubber seal, with a valve core fitted inside rather than depending only on the core in the wheel. That is what lets the supplier state you can inflate, deflate and check pressure through the extension, so the fitting stays where it is between checks instead of coming off each time. Metal dust caps are supplied to keep grit out of the outlet.
45, 90 and 135 degrees, two of each
Three bends cover three problems. A 45 clears a spoke that only just gets in the way. A 90 pushes the valve straight out through the face of a deep rim. A 135 turns back on itself for a valve pointing away from you, as on the inner tyre of a dual axle or a caravan rim. Two of each means a full set on one vehicle, or a mixed selection spread across a few.
Key features
- Six pieces, three angles: 2 x 45 degrees, 2 x 90 degrees, 2 x 135 degrees.
- Valve core in each extension: inflate, deflate and check pressure without taking it off.
- Standard valve fitment: the supplier names cars, bicycles, trucks, motorcycles and recreational vehicles.
Specifications
- Set quantity: 6 pieces (2 x 45 deg, 2 x 90 deg, 2 x 135 deg)
- Material: brass, with rubber seal and metal dust cap
- Valve core: fitted in each extension
- Compatibility: standard tyre valves, in the supplier's wording
- Length of each angle: not published by the supplier
- Thread size: not published by the supplier
Worth knowing before you order
- No dimensions are given: the supplier publishes no lengths or thread sizes for this set. Where clearance behind the wheel is tight, measure against the photos first.
- Check every joint: an extension adds a sealed connection to a pressurised tyre. Soapy water over each fitting after installation will find a slow leak immediately.
- Reset and recheck: set each tyre to the placard pressure with the extension fitted, then check again the following day.
Cheap enough to leave fitted permanently, which is the only way pressure checks actually get done.
