The retaining ring that holds a low beam globe in a Golf headlight is a plastic part sitting beside the hottest thing in the housing. After a decade of heat cycles the tabs go brittle, and they let go mid globe change, in a servo car park, in the dark.

Part 5K0941109 was used across a long run of cars, and the supplier's compatibility list runs to more than a dozen models. It also contradicts itself: Scirocco appears as 2009-2015 in one place and 2009-2017 in another, Tiguan as both 2012-2018 and 2012-2017, alongside a "Craftsman" that is not a model sold here. Instead, pull the holder from your headlight and read the number moulded into it. If it says 5K0 941 109, this is your part.

A holder, not a globe

What arrives is two lamp holders, black, and nothing else — no globes, no wiring, no connector. The holder clamps the globe against the reflector and keeps it in the position the housing was designed around, which is why a cracked one is not something to nurse along with a cable tie: a globe sitting a millimetre out of place sends light where it was never meant to go.
