Washing the roof of a dual cab from ground level usually ends one of two ways: a stepladder, or water running down your sleeve to the shoulder. Bending the pole changes the geometry — the head lies flat on the panel while your arms stay low.

Why the pole is bent 21 degrees

A straight handle forces the whole tool overhead before the head sits square against a roof or bonnet, and that is where the shoulder strain comes from. The 21-degree bend in this aluminium pole presents the head at panel angle with the grip still at chest height. The same geometry pays off low down, letting the head track along a sill or into a wheel arch without you crouching and twisting the handle. Alloy tubing keeps the assembly light enough to hold out at arm’s length while you work.

One head, two jobs

The chenille cover slides off, and underneath is a 9 mm EVA foam blade. The supplier lists it for pushing snow off a car and for squeegeeing standing water from glass and panels. For most buyers here it is the squeegee side that gets used — sheeting water off a bonnet after the final rinse beats chasing it with a chamois. The head also swings 180 degrees on an internal spring, and locks off when you want it rigid.

Before the first wash

• Rinse the cover out before it touches paint, and again any time it lands on the ground — grit off a driveway is what marks panels, not the fibre itself.
• Do wheels and lower sills last, or keep a second cover for them; brake dust is abrasive.
• The supplier does not state a maximum water temperature or any chemical compatibility for the cover.

The alloy pole and foam blade make it as useful on a caravan, a boat trailer or a set of house windows as it is on the car.
