Kneeling beside a highway in the dark, turning the folded steel rod that came with the car a quarter turn at a time because there is no room to swing it past the sill. That is the part of a roadside wheel change nobody misses. A ratchet handle turns the same job into a short back and forth stroke.
A short stroke instead of a full turn
A scissor jack raises by turning a threaded rod, and the standard handle needs a complete circle of clear air to do it. Beside a kerb, against a rock, or under the low sill of a loaded 4WD, that circle is rarely there. The ratcheting head only needs the arc you can actually reach, and the 360 degree rotating head lets you set the handle to whatever angle the ground allows. At 27 cm long it stays manageable in a confined space rather than fouling bodywork.
Check the fit against your own jack first
The supplier gives the handle a thickness of 0.6 cm and a diameter of 2.5 cm. Its compatibility line is where the data falls apart: one place says it suits scissor jacks with a thickness of 0.5 cm, another says a diameter of 0.5 cm. Those describe different things and the listing never settles which is meant. Both are printed below. Measure the drive eye on your own jack before ordering rather than trusting either line.
Key features
- Ratcheting action: useful exactly where a full-circle swing is impossible, which is most roadside verges.
- Rotating head: turns through 360 degrees, so the handle angles to the ground rather than the jack.
- Metal construction: described by the supplier as compact, firm, durable and rust resistant.
- Boot-sized: 27 x 5 x 5 cm, so it stores with the jack instead of in a tool drawer.

What's in the box
- 1 x labour-saving ratchet wrench
What this tool is not
- It winds the jack's screw. The jack does the lifting and the jack carries the load. No lifting, supporting or holding capacity is quoted for this handle and none should be assumed.
- Never put any part of your body under a vehicle held up by a jack alone. Support it on axle stands before you go underneath.
- Park on firm level ground, apply the park brake and chock a wheel on the opposite corner before raising anything.
- Wheel nuts must be tightened to the figure in your vehicle manufacturer's handbook, using a torque wrench. A labour-saving ratchet gives no torque reading at all, so it cannot set final tension on a wheel.
- The title describes it as a lug wrench, but the supplier's own text covers only jack operation and names no socket or nut size.
Sitting next to the jack in the boot, it makes the tyre change you eventually have to do a lot less miserable.
