Loose cargo in a trailer does not stay where you put it. Without fixed anchor points you end up hooking straps over whatever looks solid, a mudguard or a stake pocket or the frame itself, and hoping the load holds. E-track replaces the guesswork with a rail full of anchor positions.
Anchor wherever the load happens to sit
Each rail is 1524 mm of steel with slots running its full length, and a fitting drops into any slot you choose. That is the whole point of the system. Instead of three welded D-rings that never line up with what you are carrying, there is a continuous line of positions, so the strap runs straight from anchor to load rather than pulling at an awkward angle that loosens under vibration. Move the cargo and you simply move the fittings. Eight rails is enough to run both sides of a trailer with some left for the front bulkhead.
Rails, rings and tie-offs in one kit
This is a complete set rather than bare rail. The O-rings drop into a slot and present a round anchor for a hook or carabiner, while the tie-offs carry a D-ring on a wider bearing plate, which suits a strap that needs to spread its pull. The rails bolt to a wall, a floor or a trailer bed, so the same kit works standing gear up against a garage or workshop wall as well as in a vehicle.
What's in the box
- 8 x steel E-track rails, 1524 mm each
- 8 x O-rings
- 8 x tie-offs with D-ring
- 24 pieces in total
Specifications
- Rail length: 1524 mm (5 ft) each
- Rails supplied: 8
- Material: steel
- Load rating: 1800 lb / 816 kg as quoted by the supplier. The basis is not stated, so it is unclear whether the figure applies per rail, per fitting or to the kit as a whole.
- Mounting: wall, floor or bolt-through fixing
- Suits: trailers, utes, trucks, vans, garages and workshops
Before you fit these
- Mounting bolts are not listed among the contents. The fixings need to suit whatever the rails are going into, and a trailer bed and a stud wall call for different hardware.
- Because the supplier does not say what the 1800 lb / 816 kg rating covers, do not read it as a working load per anchor point. Match your restraint to the load you are actually carrying.
Fit the rails once and every strap job after that gets quicker.
