A diesel heater dumps all its warm air out of a single 75 mm outlet, which usually means one scorching corner and a cold end of the van. A Y-branch splits that flow three ways and puts a valve on two of the legs, so the heat can be steered towards the beds rather than towards wherever the heater happened to fit.
Three ways out, two of them adjustable
One 75 mm duct goes in and three outlets come out, with 90-degree rotatable valves on two of them. Turning a valve closes or opens a leg, which is how you push more air to the far end overnight and even it out during the day. Because the valves rotate rather than slide, they can be set by feel without pulling ducting apart. Every connection is 75 mm, so this suits a heater and ducting already running that size and nothing else — check yours before ordering.
The word "exhaust" in this listing is wrong
The supplier's own text calls the part a "y branch outlet exhaust connector" in two separate places. It is not an exhaust component and must never be used as one. This is a warm-air duct fitting made from polypropylene and TPE, both plastics; a diesel heater's exhaust runs hot enough to glow and carries carbon monoxide, and no plastic fitting has any business near it. Read the word as a translation error and keep this strictly on the cabin-air side of the heater.
Plastics rated for nothing in particular
Polypropylene forms the body with TPE on the moving parts, which the supplier describes as able to take heat and long service. No temperature rating is published for either material, and no airflow or pressure figure appears anywhere in the data. Compatibility is given as most 2 kW, 5 kW and 8 kW diesel heaters, along with the supplier's own instruction to confirm against your model first. Colour is black.
Key features
- Three outlets from one inlet: heat reaches more than one part of the van.
- Two 90-degree rotatable valves: balance the legs by hand without dismantling ducting.
- 75 mm throughout: matches the common duct size on 2, 5 and 8 kW heaters.
- Polypropylene and TPE: light enough that it does not load the ducting it sits in.
Specifications
- Duct size: 75 mm
- Configuration: 3-way Y branch per the title; the description calls it a T-shape outlet, which contradicts the title
- Valves: 2, rotatable through 90 degrees
- Materials: polypropylene body, TPE
- Colour: black
- Heaters named: most 2 kW, 5 kW and 8 kW diesel air heaters
- Temperature rating: none published for either material
- Airflow or pressure drop figures: not published
- Overall dimensions and mass: not published
- Correct application: warm-air ducting only, never exhaust, despite the supplier's wording
Running a diesel heater safely
- Diesel parking heaters burn fuel and produce carbon monoxide. The heater must be installed with its exhaust routed outside the cabin, exactly as the heater manufacturer's instructions require, with every exhaust joint sealed and checked.
- A working carbon monoxide alarm is a sensible thing to have in any space where people sleep with a heater fitted.
- Never fit this, or any plastic component, on the exhaust side of a heater.
- Do not kink the ducting. A crushed or tightly bent duct chokes airflow, and a heater that cannot shed its heat will shut down or overheat.
- Keep ducting away from hot surfaces — the heater's exhaust, the vehicle's exhaust, and anything else that runs hot. No temperature rating is published for these plastics.
- Confirm every duct and outlet on your system is 75 mm before ordering.
A simple way to get heat to more than one place in a van, provided your ducting is 75 mm and it stays on the air side of the heater.
