The shell is oxford fabric over a waterproof lining, with a reinforced rim and base that the supplier states keep it upright when filled — a soft-sided bucket that collapses mid-wash is worse than no bucket at all.

Short pile, and both sides of it

Coral fleece is a short dense microfibre pile, and this towel is piled on both faces. The supplier describes it as absorbing large amounts of water quickly and gentle on paintwork, glass and mirrors, but publishes no GSM figure or abrasion test, so treat that as description rather than measurement. The 60 cm sizes suit drying a whole car; the smaller two suit glass and detail work.

Washing and storing the set

• Wash the towel before first use to shed loose manufacturing fibres. Skip the fabric softener — it coats the pile and kills absorbency. Keep bleach and harsh chemicals away from it.
• Unfold the bucket fully and check the lining before the first fill, and let it dry completely before folding it away or it will go mouldy.
• The bucket is not intended for storing drinking water over extended periods. Colour may vary slightly between batches.
