Loading a generator into a ute tray on your own is how backs get wrecked. This 12 V crane hoist bolts to the tray or a workshop bench, swings on a swivel arm and does the lifting for you, run off a wired remote so both hands stay clear of the load.
Two ratings, and the rigging decides which one applies
The supplier quotes two figures and they are not interchangeable: 500 kg (1102 lb) on a single line, 800 kg (1763 lb) double line. The difference is the reeving. Run the rope straight off the drum and the full weight sits on it; run it down through a block and back, and the load splits across two falls. The lift speeds bear that out — roughly 10 m/min single, roughly 5 m/min double. Doubling up also halves how far the hook travels, so plan your headroom against the 9.2 m of 4.8 mm cable on the drum before you start.
Twelve volts, so it works wherever the ute is
The motor is rated at about 1000 W and runs on 12 V DC, which means the hoist works off a vehicle or trailer battery instead of needing mains power or a generator on site. A draw that size will flatten a battery quickly on repeated lifts, so run the engine while you work and use cable heavy enough for the run. The body is powder-coated steel, the mount is a swivel arm on a supplied bracket, and an automatic brake holds the drum when you release the remote rather than letting the load creep back down.
Key features
- Two stated ratings: 500 kg single line and 800 kg double line, quoted exactly as the supplier states them — the two are not added together.
- Wired remote: lets you stand away from the load and the drum while it is under tension.
- Automatic brake: holds the drum the moment you let go of the control instead of letting the hook drift down.
- Swivel arm and bracket: pick a load up off the ground, then swing it across into the tray without setting it down.
- 9.2 m of 4.8 mm steel cable: enough drum for tray-height work with some spare wraps left on.
- Powder-coated steel body: a coated finish handles tray grit and wet weather better than bare steel.

Before you lift with it
- Work to the rating that matches your rigging. Single line is 500 kg, double line is 800 kg; the figures are alternatives, not a total.
- Never lift or carry a person, and never stand or reach under a suspended load. A brake is a mechanical part and mechanical parts fail.
- If the hoist is used to raise any part of a vehicle, it lifts only. Lower the vehicle onto rated stands before anyone goes underneath it.
- The mounting point carries everything the hook does, plus shock loading. Bolt it to structure that can take it, not to sheet metal.
- The supplier does not name any standard, certification or test rating for this hoist. Confirm it suits your duty cycle and application before relying on it.
