A tarp over a load is only as good as what you tie it to, and most trailer floors, ute canopies and boat lockers come with nowhere sensible to hook a rope. These four D-rings bolt on wherever you need an anchor, and swivel to face whichever way the strap pulls.
A ring that follows the pull
Each ring rotates through 180 degrees in its base. That sounds like a small thing until you have a strap dragging a fixed eye sideways: a ring that cannot line up with the load puts a bending force on the base and the fastener instead of a clean pull. Letting it swing means the load path stays straight through the base rather than across it. The D shape also gives a flat bar for a hook or cam buckle to sit against rather than a curve it can slide around.
Galvanised, because it lives outside
The rings and brackets are galvanised iron. Zinc coating is the difference between hardware that survives a season on a boat trailer and hardware that leaves rust streaks down your paint by the second wet. Mounting is straightforward — the bracket takes two bolts into a metal panel or a timber floor, and the pack supplies eight M6 × 25 mm bolts for the four rings. Fit them to something structural: a bracket is only as strong as the panel behind it, and a ring bolted through thin sheet or plywood will tear out long before the ring itself gives up.
Key features
- Set of four: enough to anchor a tarp or a load at all four corners of a small tray or trailer.
- 180 degree swivel: the ring lies flat when unused and lifts to meet the strap when it loads.
- Two-bolt bracket: a quick fit to steel, timber or plastic panels using the bolts supplied.
- Galvanised finish: rust, corrosion and oxidation resistance for gear that lives in the weather.
- Takes rope, webbing, cable or chain: the open D accepts whatever restraint you already own.
Specifications
- Quantity: 4 D-rings, 4 mounting brackets, 8 bolts
- Bolts: M6 × 25 mm
- Material: galvanised iron
- Movement: ring rotates 180 degrees in the base
- Stated load: up to 300 kg. This is the supplier's figure with no stated basis — it is not identified as a working load limit or a breaking strength, no standard or test method is named, and the listing does not say whether it applies per ring or to the set.
- Mounting: two bolts per bracket, into metal or timber
- Measurement tolerance: the supplier asks buyers to allow roughly 13-25 mm
What's in the box
- 4 × heavy duty D-rings
- 4 × mounting brackets
- 8 × M6 × 25 mm bolts
Load limits and what these are not
- Treat the 300 kg figure as indicative only and stay well under it, because no basis and no standard is given for it.
- These are cargo tie-down anchors, not vehicle recovery points. Never attach a snatch strap, kinetic rope or winch line to one — recovery loads must be taken from rated recovery points only.
- Not for lifting, or for any load suspended above a person.
- The panel and the fasteners carry the load. Bolt into structure, use backing plates or large washers on thin material, and re-check tightness after the first loaded trip.
- The listing calls the item both a weld-on ring and a two-bolt bracket fitting. Bolts are supplied, so treat it as a bolt-on part.
- Inspect for bent rings, elongated bolt holes or cracked brackets before each trip, and replace anything deformed.
Sturdy little anchor points for a trailer, tray, canopy or garage wall — the sort of thing you fit once and use for years.
