A wheel is really three cleaning jobs wearing one name. The barrel needs reach, the tyre sidewall needs stiff bristles and real force, and the badge, valve and lug recesses need something small and soft. This three-piece set puts a dedicated tool against each of them.
Three brushes because a wheel is three jobs
The wheel hub brush is the long one, shaped to slide into alloy and custom rims and pull mud, dirt and brake dust out of the depth of the wheel arch. The tyre brush runs plastic bristles, which are stiff enough to break up baked-on grime and old dressing residue on a sidewall, work that would flatten a soft brush in a fortnight. Its handle is shaped for the grip you actually use when scrubbing hard, which is a different hold from the one used inside a barrel. Using the right brush for each surface is also what stops one contaminated tool being dragged across everything.
Where the detailing brush earns its keep
The third element is a fine detailing brush with soft, springy bristles, and it goes everywhere the other two cannot. Around a centre cap, into a lug nut recess, along the base of a valve stem, into the gap between a badge and the panel behind it. The supplier also lists it for interior work, which is where these small brushes get used most often in practice: vents, switch surrounds, seat rails and the seams around a gear selector.
Key features
- Three-piece set: hub brush, tyre brush and detailing brush, each with a defined job.
- Long hub brush: slides into the wheel arch depth for mud and brake dust.
- Stiff plastic tyre bristles: enough bite for baked-on grime and dressing residue.
- Soft springy detail bristles: reach caps, valve stems and narrow gaps.
- Interior and exterior: the detailing brush is listed for both by the supplier.
Specifications
- Quantity: 3 pieces
- Tyre brush bristles: plastic
- Detailing brush bristles: soft (material not published)
- Hub brush material and all brush lengths: absent from the listing
Before you use these
- The supplier names alloy wheels and custom rims for the hub brush only. No statement is made about polished, chrome, anodised or painted faces, so test on a hidden area before working across a visible one.
- Plastic bristles are stiff by design. Keep the tyre brush on rubber and away from finished metal.
- Flush grit out of the bristles between wheels so debris is not carried from one surface to the next.
The supplier also lists trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, caravans and boats, along with grilles, exhaust tips, bumpers and undercarriage work.
