A leaking exhaust joint announces itself before you find it — a drone under load, a whiff at idle, a sooty streak where two pipes meet. This pair of clamps pulls a 3 inch (76 mm) outer-diameter pipe onto its neighbour and holds the joint shut, using a spanner rather than a welder.
Stainless where the heat and salt are worst
Exhaust hardware lives in the worst part of the vehicle: heat cycling from cold to glowing, road salt on coastal runs, grit thrown up off gravel. These are 304 stainless with a passivated surface, which is the reason they can still be undone in two years instead of rounding off into a rusted lump. The nuts are stainless as well, so nothing in the joint gives up ahead of the rest.
A saddle that spreads the load
A bare U-bolt bites into one narrow line across the tube, and on thin-wall pipe that is how the next leak starts. The saddle spreads clamping force across the top of the joint, with a thickened slot so it resists bending as the nuts come up. Anti-slip teeth on the nut faces handle the other problem: an exhaust shakes constantly at idle, and a plain nut walks loose over a few hundred kilometres.
Key features
- Sized for 3 inch pipe: joins a 3 inch (76 mm) OD pipe to the smaller one it slips over — muffler inlets, outlets, elbows.
- 304 stainless throughout: bolts and nuts both.
- No welding: machined threads, fitted with hand tools.
- Reusable: undo it to swap a muffler, then clamp it back up.

What's in the box
- 2 x heavy-duty U-bolts for 3 inch OD pipe
- 2 x saddles
- 4 x 3/8 inch nuts
- 1 x spanner
Before you tighten them up
- Work on a cold exhaust. Pipes hold heat far longer than they look like they do.
- Tension the nuts evenly, side to side, and re-check them after a heat cycle. No torque figure is published, so go by feel.
- Do not live with a joint that still leaks. Exhaust gas escaping under the floor can find its way into the cabin.
Sold as a pair, covering both ends of a muffler.
