Halogen headlight globes on a small bike or scooter tend to be dim, and they hate vibration — the filament gives up long before anything else does. This pair of H4 COB LED globes drops into the same H4 socket and runs a solid-state chip on each face instead.

Two faces, one globe

An H4 does two jobs from a single globe: a low beam aimed down and across, and a high beam that lifts. These carry a COB LED on each side of the board, so both functions come from the one unit and the existing switch controls them as before.

Before you fit these

• This is an LED globe going into a housing designed around a halogen filament. The supplier does not substantiate the beam pattern, so check the cut-off and glare against a wall before riding or driving at night, and have the headlight aim reset.
• At 6500 K the output is cooler and bluer than a standard halogen. Colour temperature and colour restrictions apply to forward-facing lighting and vary by state.
• Check the lighting rules that apply to your vehicle in your state before it goes back on the road.
• The supplier lists this as suiting scooter and motorcycle headlights and names several manufacturers as examples only. Confirm your own globe is an H4 before ordering.
