Before you fit it

• Drain the tank and let the fuel system empty before the old tap comes out. Work outdoors or somewhere well ventilated, and give petrol vapour time to clear.
• No ignition source anywhere near the job. That means no naked flame, no cigarette, no grinder or power tool running, and nothing hot on the bench.
• Once the tap is in and the tank refilled, check the threaded joint and the seal for weeping with the engine cold and still, and check again after it has run and cooled. Do not run the engine with any dampness around the tap.
• Confirm the thread and the engine model against your own machine before ordering. No gasket or seal is listed as supplied, so have one on hand if yours is perished.
