Halogen globes never fail at a convenient moment. They go at night, on the way home, usually one headlight first and the other a fortnight later. Ten H7s at once is the answer for a workshop drawer, a small fleet, or a household where three cars all happen to take the same globe.

A whiter beam than the globe that came out

These are rated at 100 W on a 12 V system and 8500 K, a xenon-white look rather than the yellow cast of a standard globe. Colour temperature describes the tint of the light, not how much of it there is, and the two are worth keeping apart: the white comes from the tinted glass rather than from the wattage. On unlit road the practical gain is edge definition, picking up line markings and roadside gravel a little sooner.

Before you fit these

• At 100 W these draw close to double a standard 55 W H7, so check your wiring, connectors and headlight housing can handle the extra load and heat.
• Higher-wattage globes are generally intended for off-road, competition or auxiliary use. Confirm the requirements that apply to your vehicle and your state before fitting them for road use.
• Do not touch the glass part of the globe when fitting. Moisture from your hands can cause the bulb to break.
• Check the fitting on your existing globe first to confirm an H7 is the direct replacement.
• Supplied without retail packaging.
