A corded winch controller on a short lead keeps you standing right beside the drum, which is precisely where nobody wants to be during a pull. This pack combines a 500 amp solenoid with two wireless handsets, so the winch can be run from beside the anchor, from the driver's seat, or from anywhere you can actually see what the line is doing.
Two handsets, no wire to trip over
Shipping two remotes rather than one matters more than it sounds: hand the second to whoever is spotting, or leave one permanently in the vehicle and keep the other in a pocket. X-BULL quotes an approximate 45 metre range, working on 315 MHz and 433.92 MHz. An indicator light on the handset confirms the remote is talking to the receiver. Activation is deliberate rather than accidental — hold both buttons for five seconds until the LED comes on — and the same press shuts it down, with an automatic power-off after two minutes to save the battery.
The solenoid does the switching
A winch motor draws hundreds of amps, far more than any switch you would hold in your hand can carry. The solenoid is the part that takes that current: 500 amp contacts, sealed against water and corrosion, with a claimed mechanical life of 100,000 operations and 50,000 under electrical load. It is specified for continuous duty and can be mounted in any orientation, which helps when the only free space is on the side of an airbox or behind a bar. X-BULL lists it as suiting series-wound and permanent-magnet winches from 9500 lb to 17,000 lb.
Key features
- Twin handsets: two remotes supplied, so the driver and a spotter can each hold one.
- 500 amp contacts: sized for the current a winch motor actually draws.
- Sealed housing: the solenoid is sealed against water and corrosion for an under-bonnet or behind-bar mount.
- Any mounting orientation: no specified up or down, so it fits where there is room.
- Battery-saving auto-off: the handset powers itself down after two minutes idle.
- Broad compatibility: listed by X-BULL for 12 volt solenoid-operated winches, series wound or permanent magnet.

What's in the box
- 2 x wireless remotes
- 1 x receiver
- 1 x winch solenoid
- 1 x user manual, battery included
Before you wire it in
- Disconnect the battery before touching winch wiring. The cables between battery, solenoid and motor are unfused and will happily weld a spanner in place.
- Confirm your winch is a 12 volt solenoid-operated unit and check its motor current draw against the 500 amp contact rating. The 9500-17,000 lb guidance is X-BULL's general compatibility note, not a model-by-model fitment list.
- Mount the solenoid clear of the exhaust, where the terminals cannot contact bodywork, and use correctly sized cable and terminals throughout.
- Standing away from the line does not change how a winch line behaves. Lay a dampener over the line, keep everyone out of its arc, inspect the rope or cable before each pull, and winch only from rated recovery points — never a tow ball, tow bar tongue or bumper.
- This is electrical control gear. It carries no load rating and forms no part of the load path.
- Radio approval and any vehicle-modification requirements are for the buyer to confirm. Nothing here should be read as a compliance statement.
Suits replacing a solenoid that has stopped clicking, or adding remote operation to a winch that came with a corded controller only.
