A club run or a hire fleet only moves as fast as its worst bogging, and if one vehicle in ten is carrying boards, everybody else sits and waits. Ten pairs — twenty boards in total — is enough to put a set in every vehicle in a convoy, or to keep spares for the ones that come back chewed up.
Nylon that survives a summer on the roof
X-BULL moulds these from a reinforced nylon blend chosen for toughness, tensile and compressive strength, fatigue resistance and thermal stability rather than for appearance. The property that earns its keep in Australia is the UV resistance: boards spend their lives strapped to a rack in direct sun, and cheap plastic goes chalky and brittle inside a couple of seasons. The same blend is specified to resist corrosion and tarnishing. At the supplier's figure of 4.7 kg a pair, one person can still lift a set down off the rack unaided.
Grip that works in both directions
A bogged vehicle presents two separate grip problems, and the Gen 2.0 profile handles each with a different surface. The top face carries a U-shaped reinforcing pattern with spikes moulded into it, which bites the tyre and stops the wheel skating sideways off the board. Underneath sits cruciform ribbing that digs into whatever the board is lying on, so the board itself stays put instead of shooting backwards. Both ends taper down close to ground level, giving the tyre a low ramp to climb rather than a step to hit.
What ten pairs actually gets you
Each board measures 910 x 310 x 60 mm, so a pair stows flat against a roof rack, along a ute tray wall or down the side of a canopy. Twenty of them is a genuine fleet order: ten vehicles carrying a pair each, or five carrying a pair per axle. Olive and Red are both stocked at the same price. Red is the easier of the two to find again in churned-up mud at dusk, which is not a trivial consideration once you have left one behind.
Key features
- Twenty boards: ten matched pairs in a single order, enough to fit out a convoy or hold spares against damage.
- Dual-surface moulding: spiked U-profile ribs on top for tyre bite, cruciform ribs beneath to anchor the board.
- Doubles as a shovel: the tapered end clears sand and mud from a buried tyre before the board goes in.
- Shaped handle: contoured so a board can be carried one-handed with gloves on.
- UV and heat stable: built to live on an exposed rack season after season.
- Two colours: Olive or Red.

Using these safely
- The 10-tonne figure is X-BULL's own, quoted for flat ground. No test standard is named and no separate working load limit is given, so read it as a maximum vehicle weight on level, fully supported ground — not as a rated capacity for angled or partly unsupported use.
- Do not spin the wheels. Wheelspin melts and shreds the ribs within seconds and can fire a board out behind the vehicle with real force.
- Drive on gently at low revs in one steady application. The traction comes from the boards, not the throttle.
- Keep everyone well clear of the vehicle's path and of the ground behind each board.
- Retrieve and inspect after every use, and retire any board that is cracked, deeply gouged or heat-deformed.
- These are traction aids. They carry no rating for towing, snatching or winching, and nothing should be attached to them.
