A bead that refuses to seat is where a tyre change stalls. The compressor pushes air in and it escapes past the rim just as fast, and no amount of patience fixes it. A bead blaster stores a large volume and dumps it in one burst, which is what snaps the bead onto the flange.

Twenty litres of stored air, released in one hit

The tank holds 20 L (5.3 gal) and is built from 3 mm high carbon steel. Working pressure is quoted at 0.8 MPa to 1.0 MPa. At 11 kg the whole assembly is heavy enough to stay planted while you work but still liftable by one person into a ute tray for a job away from the shed. The fitting sits on top of the tank rather than out on the side, keeping it clear of damage when the tank is laid against a tyre.

Before you use it

• Assemble the unit fully and check every fitting before the first charge of air.
• Do not exceed the quoted working pressure of 0.8-1.0 MPa.
• Bead seating releases a large volume of air suddenly. Keep hands, face and bystanders clear of the tyre and rim, and wear eye protection.
• This is a workshop aid, not a replacement for correct tyre-fitting procedure. If a bead will not seat, stop and reassess rather than raising pressure.
