Changing a steering wheel on a modern ute is not a trim job. The driver's airbag sits in the middle of it and the clock spring sits behind it, and both have to be dealt with correctly before a spanner touches the centre nut. Read the fitment section below before ordering this one — it decides whether the wheel is usable on your truck at all.
The airbag is the whole job
The original airbag module has to come off the old wheel and go onto the new one. That means the system must be disarmed to the vehicle manufacturer's published procedure: battery disconnected, and the system left to discharge for the interval the procedure specifies before anything is unplugged or unbolted. A mishandled airbag module can deploy without warning and cause serious injury to whoever is holding it. The clock spring behind the wheel must not be rotated while the wheel is off and the connector is disconnected, or it will be out of phase when it goes back together.
What this listing does not tell you
The supplier's description covers the material, the shape and the grip. It says nothing whatsoever about whether this wheel accepts the original airbag module, nothing about cruise control switches, nothing about audio or phone controls, nothing about a heated element, and nothing about paddle shifters or the horn. None of that is claimed here, because none of it is stated. This matters more than any other line on the page: a wheel that will not take your existing airbag is not fittable, and a wheel that leaves your steering-wheel switches with nowhere to go removes functions you currently have. Ask us to confirm against the images and the packaging before you buy.
Carbon fibre, leather and a flat bottom
The rim is described as carbon fibre with a leather grip, a non-slip surface texture and stitching the supplier calls precise, finished in black. The D-shaped flat bottom is the visual signature and it opens up the space between the rim and your knees on the way in and out. No mass is published, so the lightweight claim cannot be checked, and no handling improvement is claimed here on the basis of it. A set of installation tools is included.

Before this wheel goes on
- Fitting is work for a qualified person. Airbag and steering components are safety-critical and this is not a first-time job.
- Disarm the airbag to the vehicle manufacturer's procedure. Disconnect the battery and allow the system the full discharge time that procedure specifies before disconnecting or removing the module.
- Handle the removed airbag module with the cover facing away from you, set it down face up, and never rest anything on it. A module that deploys in your hands causes serious injury.
- Do not rotate the clock spring while the wheel is removed and the connector is unplugged. Centre it and keep it centred, and set the road wheels straight ahead before you begin.
- Torque the steering wheel retaining nut to the vehicle manufacturer's specified figure. The supplier publishes no torque value, so the vehicle's own service data is the only source.
- Reconnect and confirm the airbag warning light goes out and stays out before the vehicle is driven. A light that stays on means the system is not armed and the fault must be found first.
- Check that the horn, the indicator cancel and every switch that was working before the job still works afterwards.
- Roadworthiness and compliance are the owner's responsibility. Nothing here states or implies that this wheel is compliant, approved or legal for road use.
If the airbag question above cannot be answered for your truck, do not fit it. Get in touch and we will check what the supplier will confirm before you commit.
