Why a fuzzy cover demands a firmer check than most

Pile hides a bad fit. A leather cover that has not seated looks wrong straight away, whereas plush can bulk out and appear correct while the inner face is barely holding the rim. Confirm your wheel measures 38 cm across, then after fitting take it in both hands and try hard to rotate it: it should not move at all against the rim, and any slip at all means strip it off and refit. Re-check it after the first week, since pile settles.
