Road noise in an older 4WD is mostly panel resonance — thin sheet metal in the doors and boot floor vibrating with the drivetrain and the road surface. Adding mass to those panels is what stops the drumming, and butyl sheet is the usual way to do it.

Each sheet is 80 mil — 2 mm — of butyl rubber under a heat-resistant aluminium foil face, with a high-tack adhesive layer on the back. Butyl is used here because it is dense and stays pliable, so it turns panel vibration into heat instead of ringing along with it. Sheets, not a roll — easier in tight spots

The set comes as individual sheets rather than one long roll, which matters when you are working inside a door skin around window mechanisms and wiring. Each sheet measures roughly 24.9 × 39.9 cm and the pack contains up to 34 of them, covering up to 3.3 m² in total. Peel the backing, press the sheet down and work it flat — no separate adhesive needed. A hand roller helps but is not supplied.
