The ZR hatch tops the Corolla Hybrid range, and these premium black covers are cut for its front and rear seats from 06/2018 onward. What is buried inside a modern seat stays invisible until the trim is being covered, and that is the difference between a clean fit and a dashboard full of new lights.
What is living inside a late-model hatch seat
Seats of this era can hold a position sensor, an occupancy or weight mat feeding the belt reminder, looms for adjustment, and on some builds a heating element bonded under the trim. None of it announces itself. Work from underneath with a torch: follow the loom, note every connector, and check whether anything is clipped to the side panel about to be covered. Nothing should end up stretched, pinched or pressed flat.
The airbag line, in the supplier's own words
The spec sheet for this product says airbag compatible. That is the entirety of it — no tear seam described, no seam strength quoted, no deployment test referenced. It appears here attributed to the supplier because we cannot verify it, and we will not tell you a cover will let an airbag through. The check worth doing is simple: a seat-mounted airbag is marked with a tag or moulded lettering on the outer bolster, usually low and towards the front.
Getting the rear seat back to normal afterwards
Rear covers include the headrests, and a hatch back seat has other jobs to keep doing. Child restraint anchors and tether straps want a clear run, buckles have to come through their own openings, and where the backrest folds in sections for longer loads each section still has to drop flat. Refit, then push something long through from the boot as a test. A backrest quietly locked upright is easier to sort in the driveway than in a car park.
Key features
- Jacquard fabric: enough texture to resist the polished patches that flat knits develop on a daily commuter.
- Breathable knit: air passes through, which is the difference between a comfortable seat and a damp shirt in summer.
- Matched skirting: side panels in the same material as the seating surface.
- Smart Guard finish: treated against staining, water and UV light.
- High-density polyurethane foam: takes the edge off a firm cushion without bulking the seat out of shape.
- Pockets at both rows: flat storage for what otherwise lives in a door bin.

Before you fit these
- Buy against the title: ZWE211R ZR hatch, 06/2018 onward. The supplier's note stops at 2022 and omits the hatch body; the title's range is what we publish and the mismatch has been raised.
- Find every airbag tag before fitting, and leave work near an airbag to a qualified person with the car checked before road use.
- Do not force a cover over a seat sensor or a heating element. If either is present, raise it with the supplier before ordering.
- Check the SRS and belt-reminder lights behave normally afterwards.
Do the torch check under the seats, match the tags against what you are buying, and the ZR has both rows covered in black. Ask before ordering if your car is a sedan.
