Retrimming is a workshop job. This is not.

Once factory cloth splits, the options narrow quickly. A trimmer has to strip the seat off its rails, unpick the old material, cut new panels to the original pattern and hog-ring them back on, and that is charged as labour by the hour on top of the fabric. Multiply it by two seats. Set against that, a pair of covers is one purchase, fitted in a driveway, and the supplier states plainly that professional installation is not required. Buying them while the trim underneath is still good is the version of this that actually saves money.

Single cab in the description, dual cab on the title

This needs flagging before anything else. The supplier's opening sentence reads "Isuzu D-Max Single Cab (2012-20120)". Two faults in one line: the cab type contradicts the dual cab chassis printed on the title, and 20120 is not a year. What has been published here follows the title: dual cab chassis, 06/2012 through 06/2020. Both readings appear in the specifications below. Owners of a single cab D-Max should not order against this SKU without asking us to check it first.

Canvas, foam and what is actually specified

The face material is cotton canvas. The supplier describes it as water resistant and UV resistant — two useful properties, neither of which is waterproofing, and the distinction is worth keeping straight. Behind the canvas is a polyurethane foam layer of high density, which the supplier credits with padding, structure and insulation, and the backing and side skirts are heavy-duty polyester. Beyond that the record is thin: no fabric weight, no panel count, no measurements and no washing advice.

• Cab type. The description and the title name different vehicles. Buy against the title, and get in touch if anything about your vehicle does not match.
• Rear seats. This pack does not include them. A separate FR part number covers both rows.
• Airbags. Airbag compatibility is stated by the supplier and nothing is offered in support of it: no seam described, no standard cited, no test named. Their claim, printed as theirs. Feel for an airbag tag on the outer side of each front seat, and if you find one, get a qualified trimmer to carry out the work, or at least to look over it, before the ute is driven again.
