Going on over damage, or going on before it

Two sorts of D-Max end up wearing this set. One already has a split outer bolster, opened up by ten years of hauling yourself in and out of a high cab. Sun through the windscreen is the slow killer

Ultraviolet does not need a hot day, only a bright one, and it works on trim every hour the ute is parked outside. Cotton canvas is the face material here, and the supplier lists it as UV resistant as well as water resistant — resistant, read literally, not waterproof. Under the canvas is a dense polyurethane foam layer the supplier ties to insulation as much as to padding, which is what keeps a seat that has been baking since seven in the morning from passing all of it straight into your back.

Read this before ordering

• The cab type disagrees. This is sold in the title as a dual cab chassis set. The supplier's own text adds "Suitable for Single and Crew cab". The title has been published here. If your D-Max is a single cab, ask us to confirm against the SKU first.
• Airbags. The supplier states airbag compatibility and stops there — no tear seam is described, no standard named, no test referenced. Check your seat bolster for the airbag tag, and if the ute has seat-mounted side airbags, have the fitting done or inspected by someone qualified before it goes back on the road.
