Premium Jacquard Seat Covers - For Mitsubishi Outlander Zj-Zk-Zl Series (2012-July/2021)

Three series codes, one pattern: ZJ, ZK and ZL Outlanders built from 2012 to July 2021. Nine years is a long run for a single set of covers, and the reason it works is that the seat shells carried through the facelifts even as the dashboards and grilles changed around them.

Mitsubishi revised this Outlander more than once without redesigning the seat frames, which is why the supplier can name ZJ, ZK and ZL together. Match your code, not the model year, because the changeover months do not fall neatly on January. It appears on the compliance plate. The end point is specific — July 2021 — so a car built later in that year belongs to the generation that followed, and this pattern was not drawn for it. Where a universal set would simply stretch and hope, a set cut to these three codes has the bolster shapes and the belt slots already in the right place.

Seven trims, including the plug-in hybrid

The supplier lists PHEV, LS, ES-ADAS, Exceed, Aspire, XLS and a Safety Pack variant. That range spans petrol, plug-in hybrid and the driver assistance trims, which is a wide net for one pattern. Battery packs on the plug-in hybrid sit under the floor rather than in the seats, so the seating positions themselves are shared. Even so, worth a look at your own back seat before ordering: check that the split and the armrest match what the photographs show. Both rows, armrests and headrests covered

The pack takes in the front and rear seats along with headrests and armrests, so a family car gets done in one go rather than in two purchases. Pockets are listed on both rows. On top is jacquard cloth, built as a knit and called breathable in the source. Under it, a polyester backing rated heavy duty carries polyurethane foam of high density, quoted for padding, structure and heat insulation. The treatment carries the Smart Guard name and is aimed at marks, wet and ultraviolet, with water resistance noted as a separate line — that word, and no stronger one.

Points to confirm

• Airbags. The supplier states airbag compatible without elaborating: no release seam is described, no standard invoked, no test result offered. Examine the side of each front seat for airbag labelling, and where one exists, arrange for a qualified person to fit or inspect the covers before driving.
• Series code. ZJ, ZK or ZL, ending July 2021. Read it off the plate, not the year of registration.
• Third row. Some of these cars were sold as seven seaters. The source describes front and rear only, so a third row is not covered.
