A flat roof platform is great until you need to tie something to it. Most extruded rack channels give you nothing solid to hook a strap or bungee to, so gear ends up lashed around the side rails and working loose on the first stretch of corrugations. These eye nuts drop into the T-slot and give you eight fixed anchor points.
Anchor points that follow the load
Each anchor is a ring on a threaded M8 stud that slides along the T-track and clamps down where you set it, so the tie-down point moves to suit the packing rather than the other way around. A jerry can braced against the front rail, a shovel down one side, a swag across the middle. Eight in the kit is enough to restrain two or three separate items independently, and a spanner repositions the lot in a couple of minutes when the next trip loads up differently.
Key features
- 304 stainless steel: copes with rain, road salt and coastal air without weeping rust stains down the rack.
- Eight anchors supplied: enough points to tie items down separately instead of one big lashing over everything.
- M8 threaded stud: pulls up tight against the channel and undoes again when the layout changes.
- Open ring: takes a bungee hook, an S-hook, a cam-buckle strap or plain rope.
Specifications
- Material: 304 stainless steel
- Thread size: M8
- Quantity: 8 anchors
- Mounting: T-track / T-slot roof rack channel
Before you fit these
- Measure your rack channel first. T-slot profiles differ between brands and the supplier does not list compatible racks.
- No load rating is supplied for these anchors. Treat them as light cargo tie-down points rather than working to a number.
- These are cargo anchors, not recovery equipment. They must never be used to snatch, tow or winch a vehicle, and no recovery strap or winch line should ever be attached to one.
- Your rack's own roof load limit still applies and is usually the lower of the two.
A cheap way to make a bare rack platform genuinely usable for loose gear. Fit them once, leave them in, and shift them when the packing changes.
