• The mounting is the weak point. A ring is only as strong as the panel, bolt and backing plate behind it. Bolt through with washers or a spreader plate, never into thin sheet alone.
• Tie-down only, not recovery. These are cargo anchors. Vehicle recovery loads must go to rated recovery points and rated points only — never a tow ball, tow bar tongue or bumper, and never one of these rings.
• Inspect before every trip. Retire any ring that is bent, cracked, worn thin at the bearing surface or seized.
