Fifteen LEDs, ninety flashes a minute

Flash rate is the number that matters on a warning light, and the supplier publishes it plainly: 90 flashes per minute, roughly three every two seconds. Fifteen LEDs sit behind the lens producing a stated 40 to 60 lumens. That is a modest output, so treat this as a close-range marker rather than something that will cut through daylight at distance. Output is blue, the body is ABS, and the supplier notes it can also be driven as the photoelectric alarm output of an alarm host.

Two ways to mount it

Two bases, four screws and two screw tubes ship with the light, alongside a sheet of double-sided film, so it can be fixed permanently or stuck to a surface that cannot be drilled. At 7.3 cm across there is very little to find room for. Input is DC 12 V only.

• Output is blue. Blue flashing light is closely associated with emergency services in Australia and its use is restricted, as is the use of flashing lights generally. Before fitting for road use, establish what is permitted in your state and on your class of vehicle.
• The stated 5 W and the stated 120 mA working current at 12 V do not reconcile with each other. Both are published above exactly as the supplier gives them.
• No IP rating is published, so do not assume the unit is sealed against rain or wash-down.
