H8 H11 H16 LED Fog Light Bulb CSP-Y11 Cool White 6500K 2-Pack

Factory fog lights are usually the last thing on a car to get any attention, and after a decade the halogen globes in them throw a weak yellow pool that barely reaches past the bumper. This pair swaps into an H8, H11 or H16 housing and puts a cool white output in the same place, with no change to the lamp itself.

One base, three fitment codes

H8, H11 and H16 share a common base, which is why a single globe covers all three, and why it pays to read the code stamped on the globe already in the car rather than guessing from the model year. The body is a 1:1 copy of the halogen shape, so it sits in the standard retainer and the connector plugs straight on. The supplier states there is no polarity to get wrong, so the plug goes on either way round, and puts fitting at around five minutes a side with no cutting or drilling.

Six emitters instead of a filament

Each globe carries six Seoul CSP Y11 chips. Chip scale packaging mounts the emitter straight onto its substrate, which keeps the light-emitting area small and close to the point in the housing where the halogen filament used to sit. The supplier rates the assembly at more than 40,000 hours, against the few thousand a fog globe living behind a stone-chipped bumper usually manages. Draw is quoted at roughly 4 W per globe compared with around 60 W for the halogen it replaces, which is a real margin on an older car whose lighting circuit is already carrying its age.

• These are LED emitters going into housings built around a halogen filament. The supplier claims they do not dazzle oncoming traffic; that is the supplier's claim and it is not substantiated in the listing, so no claim is made here about the resulting beam pattern.
• At 6500 K the light is noticeably cooler and whiter than the halogen it replaces. Colour requirements for forward-facing lights vary by state - confirm the requirements that apply to your vehicle and state before fitting for road use.
• Read the code on your existing globe. H8, H11 and H16 share a base, but other fog light fittings do not.
• The supplier gives power both as 4 W and as the garbled string "4W0.5W * 2PCS". Treat the wattage as approximate.
