Half a tonne on a pallet still has to get up to working height somehow. The T-Rex TSL-5 is the heavy end of the scissor trolley range: a 500kg rating, an 82 x 52 cm table, and a lift from 27 cm to 87 cm driven entirely by a foot pedal.

Half a tonne, and how it is quoted

The supplier states a maximum load capacity of 500kg and gives no qualifying basis: no distinction between a centred load and a point load, and no derating at the top of the stroke. Take it as a whole-trolley ceiling and load to the middle of the table. Everything else follows from that number — the high-carbon steel alloy frame, the 62 kg dry weight, the 27 to 87 cm working range that keeps the geometry short and stiff rather than chasing extra height. Short travel is what buys the load rating.

Foot up, hand down

Lifting is done with a pedal so both hands stay free for the load; lowering is done with a hand lever that meters the flow rather than dumping it. That split matters when the thing on the table is expensive. Ease the lever open and the platform settles, let it go and it stops. Four 5-inch castors sit under the frame, two fixed for tracking and two swivelling with brakes, and the push handle lifts out of its socket when the trolley needs to go back against a wall.

• Keep every part of your body clear of the space under a raised platform, and lower it fully before working on the load.
• Stay inside the stated 500kg maximum, centred on the table rather than hanging over an edge.
• Lock both braked castors before loading, unloading or raising.
• A material handling trolley, not a vehicle lift — never use it to raise or hold up a car.
• Assembly is required; torque and re-check every fastener before putting weight on it.
