Pulling an engine is a job the bay does nothing to help with. A crane takes the assembly straight up and out, then wheels it to a stand. When the work is done, this one folds instead of owning a corner of the shed all year.
Four boom positions, four different ratings
Two tonnes is the figure with the boom pulled all the way in. Slide it out and the rating steps down through four marked positions, 2 T, 1.5 T, 1 T and 0.5 T, across a boom range of 1050 mm to 1590 mm. That step-down is leverage, not a defect: the further the hook sits from the mast, the harder the load works to tip the frame. Pick the shortest position that reaches the lifting eye.
Folds flat when the job is done
Folded, the frame comes down to 1440 × 1000 × 620 mm, so it stands against a wall rather than blocking a bay. Six cast-iron swivel castors at 3.5 in carry it. Cast iron is the right call because a loaded crane puts a hard point load through each castor, which is what flattens plastic wheels. The swivel hook lets an engine rotate to clear the bay instead of fighting the chain.
Key features
- Heavy-gauge structural steel: the section, not the paint, carries a two-tonne rating.
- Drop-forged swivel hook: forged rather than cast, and free to turn as a load settles.
- Chain and shackle set included: reaches standard engine lifting points out of the box.
- Ships in three boxes: 22, 29 and 30 kg, so it comes in without a forklift.

Before the first lift
- Match the boom position to the weight. The 2 T rating applies at the retracted setting only.
- A crane lifts; it holds nothing up for you. Never work under a suspended engine, and never leave a load hanging unattended.
- The supplier's copy refers to Australian standards but names no standard, test or certificate. Treat the crane as uncertified unless documentation arrives with it.
