Draining a tank is the job nobody plans for — a mower run on stale petrol, a boat coming out of winter storage, an outboard that needs emptying before it sits. A hand siphon takes an age and usually ends in a mouthful of fuel. This one runs off torch batteries and does the drawing for you.

An impeller keeps delivery steady

Rather than depending on gravity and a squeeze bulb, an impeller inside the housing spins to draw liquid through. Tube length and nozzle control

The discharge tube measures 1/2 inch across and 35.4 inches long, about 90 cm, enough to bridge a container on the ground and a filler at knee height. On the end, a 12 inch extension nozzle carries the manual flow control, so the rate can be backed off to a trickle for the last litre. A filter stops sediment travelling with the fluid — sediment being the usual reason fuel out of a stored tank causes trouble later.
