The exhaust that comes boxed with a budget diesel heater is usually the first thing to give trouble: too short to reach past the chassis rail, and thin enough to soften after a few cold nights. This 1490 mm stainless replacement gives you the length to route the pipe properly and clamp it where it belongs.

Length you can actually route with

A metre and a half of pipe sounds like more than anyone needs until you try to get the outlet away from a door, a vent or a wheel arch. The extra run lets you drop the exhaust below the floor, angle it rearward, and still keep a downward slope so condensate drains out instead of pooling in a bend. Corrugated stainless bends by hand to whatever radius the install demands, then holds that shape once the clamps are tightened.

Before you fit this

• The exhaust must terminate outside the cabin, canopy or any sleeping space, routed to the heater manufacturer's instructions.
• Diesel heater exhaust contains carbon monoxide, which you cannot smell. A working CO alarm in any space where the heater runs overnight is a sensible precaution.
• Keep the pipe clear of fuel lines, wiring, brake lines and upholstery — it is hot enough to burn on contact while running.
• Slope the run downward toward the outlet so condensate drains away from the heater rather than back into it.
