Fitting a fuel pressure gauge usually means cutting into a line and hoping the join holds. This take-off fitting sidesteps that: it goes in between an AN6 hose end and a 3/8 NPT port, and carries its own 1/8 NPT tapping for the gauge or sensor to screw straight into.

Two sealing systems on one body

The AN side seals on a 37-degree flare, metal against metal, with no tape or sealant anywhere near it — the angle does the work, which is why AN plumbing tolerates vibration and repeated refitting. The NPT side is a 60-degree tapered thread that seals as it tightens into the port. The 6AN thread itself is 9/16-18 UNF. Keeping the two straight matters: a flare face pulled up against a tapered thread will weep fuel no matter how hard it is done up.

Machined from 6061-T6

The body is 6061-T6 aluminium alloy with an anodised surface, which builds a harder oxide layer than bare alloy carries — the point on a part living in an engine bay with fuel running through it. The supplier states a maximum working pressure of 1,500 PSI and a working temperature range of -40 degrees F to 250 degrees F, quoted here exactly as given. Those figures describe the fitting alone, not whatever hose or gauge you thread onto it.

Before you fit these

• Fuel system work should be carried out by a qualified person, with the system depressurised first and every joint leak-checked before the vehicle goes back on the road.
• The supplier does not say whether a plug or sealing washer is supplied for the gauge port. Assume you need your own.
• Use a fuel-rated thread sealant on the NPT threads only. Never put sealant on the flare face.
