• Screw the sleeve fully home every time. A link left with the sleeve part-way up is a fraction of the connector it should be.
• Load the link along its length. A pull across the sides of the body, or over an edge, is what bends this shape.
• Inspect before use and discard any link with a burr, a bent body, a stretched opening or a sleeve that will not run all the way down.
• Not lifting hardware. Do not use it overhead, over people, or anywhere a failure would drop a load onto someone.
• Nothing here belongs in a vehicle recovery, whether snatching, towing or winching, and two straps must never be joined using a link or a shackle.
