A brake controller, a winch solenoid or an amplifier all want their supply taken from the battery post itself rather than spliced into a circuit already carrying something. On a side-post battery there is nowhere to put a second ring terminal, because the bolt sits flush against the case.

Turning a flush post into a stud

Each extender threads into the side terminal and leaves a stud standing proud, so ring terminals can be stacked and clamped with the nut supplied. The thread is 3/8-16, and that is the dimension fitment turns on. Length is given two ways, as 4 cm and as 1.5 inches, which are not quite the same measurement; check your clearance before ordering.

Brass at a corrosive joint

The studs are described as solid brass and rustproof, and the supplier rates them above aluminium and plastic. Brass is soft, which is part of why it seats cleanly against a terminal, but that same softness strips a thread if the nut is wound up hard. No torque figure appears in the supplier information, so work to the specification of whatever you are bolting on.
