A slow leak on the box trailer, a nail in the ride-on, a wheelbarrow that has gone down again by Saturday morning. None of them justifies loading a wheel into the car and driving to a tyre shop, and all of them are irritating. Fifty plugs in a drawer turns each one into a two-minute job in the shed.
Why the thread does the work
A conventional plug relies on you reaming the hole open and then forcing a sticky rope through with a needle tool. This design replaces all of that with a coarse spiral thread: you pick the right size, put a screwdriver on it, and turn. The thread draws the rubber body into the puncture under its own action. The supplier's stated advantage is that no flaring tool is required, so the hole is not enlarged on the way in.
Sealant on the shank
The outer surface carries a layer of sealant, which is the part doing the actual sealing once the plug is home. The supplier describes it as bedding tightly against the rubber to give high connection strength and to keep water out of the wound — worth knowing on farm and trailer tyres, where the alternative is water tracking down to the steel belts and quietly rusting them.
Key features
- Fifty per pack: enough to keep a shed, a farm or a small fleet supplied for a long time.
- Screwdriver fitting: no reaming tool, no needle, no rope to thread.
- Dual diameters: a fine and a coarse option so you are not forcing one size into every hole.
- Sealed surface: the sealant layer is what the supplier credits for the water resistance.
- Wrapped separately: each unit stays clean, so a couple can travel in a toolbox drawer.

What this repair is, and what it isn't
- This is a temporary field repair intended to get a wheel rolling again, and nothing more than that.
- The durability wording in the supplier's listing, including its reference to rough mountain roads, is the supplier's own claim and carries no rating behind it.
- Any tyre plugged this way should be looked at by a qualified tyre fitter, who can advise whether it stays in service.
- Until that happens, keep the speed and the load modest.
Handy on anything with a pneumatic tyre, from the ute down to the mower.
