Fourteen millimetres, not fifteen

The M22-14 swivel shell in this kit has a 14 mm inside diameter. The supplier states it suits 14 mm and not 15 mm, and that connecting a 15 mm M22 fitting to it may cause leakage. Because both sizes are sold under the same M22 name, the check has to be a measurement rather than a reading of the label. Put a vernier across the inside of your machine's outlet before ordering. That single number decides whether this set is any use to you.

Lead-free brass through the set

Every piece is corrosion-resistant, lead-free brass — one material end to end, in a kit that gets left in a bucket of dirty water and forgotten in a shed over winter. The supplier gives the working pressure as up to 5,000 PSI. That is a figure for the fittings, not a statement about your machine's output, and it is published in imperial only; no bar equivalent is given and we have not calculated one.

Thread checks worth doing

• Measure the inside of your M22 outlet. Both 14 mm and 15 mm are sold as M22, and only one of them seals against this swivel.
• The metric and imperial sizes in this kit are separate fittings, not equivalents of each other. M22 is a metric thread; 3/8, 1/2 and 3/4 inch are imperial, and no conversion between them applies.
• No pressure washer brand is named anywhere as compatible. If your machine uses a proprietary coupling, compare it against the photographs first.
• Hand-tighten each joint and watch for weeping at low pressure before running the machine up.

Measure once, order once, and the fittings stop being the reason a wash takes twice as long as it should.
