Fuel line quick-connects are consumables. The plastic collar goes brittle with heat and age, and the one that finally lets go is usually the one you disturbed reaching past it. This pack replaces a 7.89 mm SAE connection on 8 mm nylon fuel hose, two to the set.
Push on until it clicks, press the button to part it
The design is the standard automotive quick-connect. Push the connector onto the male tube until the lock engages, press the release button to separate them. No spanner, no clamp at that end, no cutting the line to length. The barbed tail pushes into 8 mm nylon hose and grips there, so the joint can be made up on the bench and dropped into place. The supplier's note about disconnecting without residue comes down to not chewing up hose you mean to reuse.
The sizes are exact, and that matters
7.89 mm is an SAE dimension, not a rounded metric one, and it will not mate correctly with an 8 mm or 3/8 inch tube even though the numbers sit close. Measure the male tube on the vehicle before ordering. The same applies at the other end, cut for 8 mm, or 5/16 inch, nylon line. The supplier lists the nylon body as compatible with fuel and other common fluids, but publishes no pressure, temperature or fluid detail beyond that phrase.
Key features
- Two per set: fix the failed joint, keep the spare.
- 7.89 mm SAE to 8 mm barb: a specific pairing, not a universal adapter.
- Button release: separates by hand, so the line opens without tools.
- Nylon body: the supplier states compatibility with fuel and other common fluid types.
- Compact: 78 mm end to end, fitting routing where a barbed union and two clamps will not.

Opening a fuel line safely
- Petrol vapour ignites readily and pools low. Work outdoors or with good ventilation, keep ignition sources and hot work well clear, and do not smoke.
- Relieve the fuel system pressure before opening the line, and have a catch container and rags ready for what comes out.
- With no published pressure rating, treat these as low-pressure fittings rather than assuming they suit a high-pressure direct-injection line.
- Check the joint for weeping with the engine running before any covers or panels go back on.
Two in the pack, which is the right number when the failed one is rarely the only tired one.
